Angry Short kick stand for 2013 Street Bob

Hate the kick stand on my 2013 Street bob, especially on an incline.
Tried to order one inch shorter stand from dealer, but it has been back ordered for nearly 2 months( I think they use Drag). Then called and ordered from JP cycle. Used their tech to order. Then the harley dealer tried to install and it did not fit the 2013 Dyna( may be reason back ordered).
Read on previous posts that some members cut down frame tab, but dealer said I was crazy to do so.
Now what do I do.
Would appreciate any ideas.
Thanks,
Roger

I take it you lowered the bike? Only options are 1) buy shorter kick stand, 2) grind down the tab or 3) heat and bend the stand so its shorter.

After I lowered mine and lots of reading on this forum I pulled the kickstand off cut about a 1/4 inch off the kickstand tab. worked like a charm and no issues at all.

Smile kick stand tab

There is a tab on the kick stand and also one stop on the frame and then another angled grove and slide just posterior on the frame.

Could the angle grove and slide be reduced about 1/8 inch . This would make it easier to move the stand back and forth. Still retaining most of the depth to hold the tab from the kick stand to prevent forward moving when down.. Could you do both kick stand and frame?

Would appreciate your thoughts.

I have a like new short kick stand that was on my wife's 2003 Super Glide when she bought it that should work for you, we took the short kick stand off when we removed the lowering kit. If you are interested PM me and we can work out details.

NT,
Reducing the step on frame and stand tab really helped. One inch lower kick stand was terrible. To much lean angle. Kick stand needs to be re engineered. There must be a way to mount it to the side of the frame. Thats what engineers are for.
