I'm sure gas mileage would take a decent dive... but what would rpms be at say, 85-90?
99% of my riding is on the freeway, 60 miles round trip daily. Most of the time I'm in traffic (check out my lane splitting vids), but I get a fair amount of time with no one in front of me and like to cruise. Light traffic today, so I spent most of my time around 3300-3500 rpm, and the bike just purred. I don't know if it's because of the cams I'm running (SE255) or what, but things just feel perfect between 3100 and 3300. I'm not too concerned about extended periods in the 3500 range (other than the hit my wallet will take if I get another ticket).

YJust got this done, crazy difference. I put some new SE clutch plates and SE heavy clutch spring in at the same time so it's hard to tell what made the bigger difference. Definitely in the market for the easy-pull clutch thing because that lever is a bitch to pull.

Anyway, the bike hooks up so hard in 1st, it's nuts. It's hard to explain because in your head I think you still think "yeah it's gonna take off so hard, so that equals speed". It yanks hard but it feels just about the same speed overall (I have no idea because my speedo is so far off). It definitely cruises smoother in the higher gears on the freeway.

Just FYI, the stock belt guard works fine and I have my 6th gear indicator light.

I've been running 30/70 for a couple of weeks and sort of undecided on it, maybe I should have done more research. It pulls hard and it's fun on surface streets, but I definitely notice a loss in the top end. I usually spend my time on the freeway between 85-100mph. Just for *****, I pinned the speedo at 120 today and noticed I wasn't whizzing by cars.

If this 12% discrepancy is right, when it reads 100mph I'm only going 88mph. at 120 it's really 106. Pretty huge difference! I saw Powder Pro Joe and a couple others saying it's just a 4mph discrepancy on the speedo....maybe at low speeds but I'm wondering where their numbers came from.

The 12% difference was accurate for me. I calibrated my speedo using the PV2 and it's dead on with GPS to 100.

If you spend a lot of time normally over 85mph, you might be happier with just the 30T and stock 66T. I'm pretty sure you can still use the same belt from what I read in Alan's thread about it.

Gonna try 30/66 and see how it goes. Not bragging or trying to look like hot ****, but I ride the 85-100 range too much for this to be sufficient for any long-term fix. Blasting away from red lights is fun, but the bike loses way too much top end for my liking. Maybe just the 30T swap will be a decent middle ground.

Any way I could snag yours Squid?

Is the motor still stock? It's probably running out of power at that rpm to run that mph with that gearing. That's around 4k at 100mph and the stock motor is falling on it's face at that point. My 95" cruised 100+ and well over that all the time no problem with 30/70, even with a much shorter tire. But that motor was right in it's sweet spot.

You still doing powder? I found a used rear pulley that needs to be coated.
