Thanks for the info, it will be very helpful in the next few weeks when I start my process of changing out my bars to 14.5 inch! I will post some pics when the process is finished....

Where the heck are you guys finding these 14.5 apes? I have been all over Cyclesmiths website and cant find anything but 13 or 16. Help me, as I must be a blind idiot.

Nothing to add here, just making a post so I can find it in my profile... Starting to 'clean-up' my bar area and reading up on some info. Great thread here...

I appreciate the positive comments. I started this thread over a year ago while putting bars on my fxdbi. I never ran across a thread that was comprehensive enough to make me feel real good about doing the work. I read hundreds and hundreds of threads and felt like I had enough information to do the job myself. It went very well and I saved a lot of money. I hope that this thread has provided the same for some of you.

use a baggie and a string and suck the string with a vacuum works everytime....
when bleeding your lines make sure you don't have any upward turns in the line (a flat s) that little upturn will hold air.

I'm glad this post has resurfaced. Thanks for the great info. I will probably be referring to it soon when I swap out my bars.
