I just went and measured mine- it is 7". (the a/c cover) It actually hits the inside of my knee a little with the fwd controls. I am planning on doing the "mud" mod to my original and trying the open look and original football insert ring deal. I think its under the <50 dollar mods sticky. This is pn-29153-07, and just an fyi if you want the chrome backing plate the pn is29510-05

 

A/C covers hmmmm yea been down that road,,first SEfilter with original chrome football then changed to Night Train wrinkle black football then smooth round chrome from Harley,did'nt like it chrome so sprayed it matt black then after a while wanted to spruce it up so got a WG Skull insert and slapped that on top..mmmm nah! was to much chrome again so plucked the insert off and taped the center up,sprayed the outer chrome edge black then screwed it back on(carefully and with blue loctite)and finally am happy with the finish.. sorta suits the black engine and silver bolts theme dontcha think ???? Who cares.. I like it lol
