RE: Need Some MAJOR Help with Forward Controls!!!
Elvis,
I like DavidChristopher have just did this and Yes it can be kind of intimidating job if you have never done something like this before, trust me this is what I was thinking. Even with this being something new, it was technically not real hard, especially with the manual. It will take you all day but you will learn.
After doing this to the bike, to be honest if you want an easier solution, then you need to read the other post that WS6 Formula posted here, especially the first one where they talk about using a hacksaw to remove the shaft without removing the primary case. Now I wished in some cases that I would have thought about this, but I like to learn new things. You also can choose the Kuryakyn way. This is where you leave the shaft in the houseing and just lodge it in place then put a cap over it. Either way, the case does not need to be removed and it is alot easier. Good luck in your adventure!

RE: Need Some MAJOR Help with Forward Controls!!!
I put a set on my 06 sb a few months ago. I was worried about all the same things, especially the money. I ended up getting a used set from an 02 dyna. All you have to do, is lengthen the shift rod about an inch, and bend yourself a bracket that holds the stock shift pivot arm in the primary in place. I bolted mine to the center case bolt. The brake side bolts right up with no problems. Since you already have a set with the correct shift rod, you just need to make the bracket, and puta cap on the shift shaft where it comes out of the outer primary. You do not I repeat DO NOT need to remove the primary at all.

I think that we have established more than once that there's more than one way to skin this cat, but the way I did it there's no protrusion in the outer primary casing, no cap on the old shifter nub. Note, that I used the inner and outer primary casings from an '06 wideglide so there's no 'hole' left behind.
So, in my opinion, there's a right way, and the 'other way' to do this change. Note, that I did NOT, I repeat NOT say "wrong way" to do it, but I think the results here speak from themselves:

Yes,... i agree that yours looks great and if I had thought before I ordered my parts I would have bought the inner and outter wide glide primaries. But at least H-D came up with a better looking setup on the 06 Dynas by removing the mid control shifter shaft instead of just capping it. Luckily the plug fits very smoothly so it isnt an eyesore.
