Default longer shocks

i am looking to raise the rear of my future-soon- 2013 superglide custom. what are the stock length shocks? will 06 sportster shocks fit, my YSS fully adjustable 13.25" are oversprung and prolly suit the xtra 100 lbs of the superglide. thanks in advance as i am trying to learn what i need to personalize my future ride. brakes and suspension upgrades for sure!!!

Either 12" or 12 1/2" I believe.

Sportsters are a lighter bike. Not recommended.
Get a good set and forget it. Don't skimp on your ride.
A good shock is worth it. I use 12.6" which is slightly higher than stock 12".
Works shocks are very good.

13.25 will keep you from bottoming out and scraping in tight turns, there should be some kind of load rating info you can get from the manufacturer. 100lbs is like riding two up permanently or gaining 100 lbs overnight. I hope it works for you.

My '03 WG had 11" shocks lowering it about 1 1/2" from the stock length shock (12 1/2"). When they got soft I replaced them with some Progressive 430's that were 12 1/2". They made a huge diff in cornering and riding the twisties. I've got boards on it, and now I never scrape in the turns. With the 11"ers I was constantly scraping even when I was just going through curves at a very slow speed.

If you can, just try going with some stock length shocks before going to anything longer. The difference might really surprise you and could make the transition easier and cheaper.

12" stock. a 13.25 should work well, depending on your weight and the spring rate. make sure and check belt tension when you change shock height. Had to adjust my belt tension when going to a taller shock on my FXDF. Yes, the YSS will bolt up.

13.25 will work great, especially if you want better cornering. You may have to have a suspension shop replace the springs with stronger units unless you can adequately tighten up the preload on yours.

The Ohlins 159 series work very well on the Dyna and theyre not super expensive.

Guess that depends on what you consider 'super expensive'. My Progressive 430's were over $300 per pair cheaper........I did a lot of digging before deciding on the 430's, and $700 for a pair of Ohlin's is pretty good for Ohlin's, I'll give you that.

Yes, well we're not exactly comparing apples to apples here. The Ohlins 159 has Rebound Adjusters as well as a Ride Height Adjuster. Dialing-in rebound can be very helpful.

The Progressives are an inexpensive improvement over the stock units, though.

I have also considered going with a longer shock on my SGC, than i saw one in person with 13.5 inch shocks and it didn't look good.
