Default should i go with harley synthetic oil?

hey guys, i just removed all my covers, the primary cover the cam cover and the transmission cover... i know what i need for the primary and transmission cover but im going to be changing my oil as well and i was wondering do i need to go with the harley synthetic oil? i mean all the oil from the harley dealers they want a bit more money then going and getting oil from any where else.. do i need to buy the oil from harley or can i get it else where? any suggestions on oil used by anyone else.. 14 bucks a quart is a lot considering im going to need fluids for the primary the cam and transmission since i removed them

Use whatever you want, this has been beaten to death. You don't need to use Harley oil. It's good however and I personally use it. You don't need to change all holes very often so it's not that bad for synthetic oil. Ams oil is about the same price.

yea i know my step dad just went to go get some for his harley and they wanted 14 a quart for their synthetic... i know there are other oil brands out there that are just as good.. and not for nothing when you buy your bike they don't put no synthetic oil in your bike they are using reg harley oil... do i need to put synthetic oil or can i go with reg oil or even reg harley oil?

Yes you can go with conventional oil if you want as well.

I changed from syn to Valvoline motorcycle 4-stroke 20w-50. Conventional oil. Not anywhere near $14/qt....geez, $14 is ridiculous imo.

I use AMSOIL. Think it is $12 or$13 a qt but I think it is worth it.

What about if its still under warranty and I'm changing out for my 1000 mile check? Any oil will be fine?

Here's what I use and it works great for me.

Engine: Mobil One V Twin 20w 50.......you can get this at AutoZone on sale several times a year for $7.99 per quart (it's normally $9.99) I stock up when it's on sale.

Tranny: Golden Spectro Platinum 6 Speed

Primary: HD Formula +
