Default HD Oil Filter

I took my last filter apart to see if there was any junk in it and being the first time I tore one down I couldn't help be notice this thing was built like a tank! Has anyone had any other brand of filters apart? I'm not a dealer spokesperson but I will keep on using these filters as they seem to be of good quality.

They are 5 micron nominal filters! They ARE built well and pass almost nothing!
It does, however, mean that in time the media gets more efficient as minute particles are trapped! then the flow drops off and the bypass opens and non-filtered oil can circulate...all the more reason to change filters with oil!
Please...no hate mail! $12. dollars is cheap insurance! Just what I do...my opinion! Keeps my warm fuzzy feeling in the top drawer!

I just realised that oil filters are the only thing I purchase at my dealer. Maybe they don't like me as much as they pretend...............

Been using Harley filters only as well. Like other's have said $12 bucks each? A tank of gas at $12 bucks would not end your day so why should a filter your only replacing once or twice a year!

Just like everything else, Harley does not make them, so who does?

I've never taken one apart but I have poked a hole in them with a screwdriver, to get them to turn. But that was on a car.

I've cut open a lot of filter in my sales days. It seems like every brand has a cheap filter and a good one. They do make a difference. But you can't just say (ie) Fr#m is good there are good ones and cheap **** ones.

Can't speak on the H-D ones, never had one open
