Default Flat Tire

Thankfully this happened as I was exiting the freeway at 40mph and not at 70mph cruising speed.

Instantly it felt like the rear brake had been applied but it wasn't me applying pressure. I slowed from 40mph and at 10mph I felt it: a terrible wobble from the rear. SOB. It was literally like riding a horse and also slightly comical at that point.

Pulled to the shoulder and called roadside assistance. An hour later and the bike is on it's way to the dealer.

Tire is a Metzeler ME880 200/60/R16 and is about 500 miles old. Didn't see a single piece of debris in the tread or sidewall. Not sure what's going on with it. I'll report back with the findings.

I'll restrain myself and go with "That's flatter than **** on a platter." Glad you made it out ok.

Swear I'm going to invest in a tire changer for the house one of these days.

Don't you carry a tubeless repair kit with you? I never leave the house without one!

I had a flat last fall. I know the feeling. Couldn't see anything in mine. Ended up being a shingle nail the head had worn off of. Crappy feeling for sure.

Reading this thread makes me glad I run a 502. I've also had a flat at 70 mph and it was not anything like what you experanced.

People may advise you against it, but I did it to mine a couple thousand miles ago when I got some heavy electric staples in it.

Either patch from the inside and just run it depending on the size of the hole or patch from the inside and add a tube. I added a tube because there were 3 holes. It has held up great and was only $60 with labor for a tube and patch. Not something I could do myself while on a trip.

BTW, I plugged the tire to get to the dealer to repair, I didn't trust the plug to hold up for any length of time.
