And forget that 1/16" to 1/8" stuff specified in the manual or the nickel/dime method so many describe. Simply grab the lever and make sure it has some freeplay in it. Exactly how much freeplay you have really isn't that critical as long as you have some. It's really a personal preference thing for how you want the clutch to feel. The more freeplay you have, the closer to the grip the friction zone will be. Less freeplay moves the friction zone farther from the grip.
And be certain there is some freeplay or clearance at the adjustment screw inside the cover too. Freeplay at the lever itself is no gaurantee of clearance at the clutch adjustment screw and you need to have both.
