Default Chrome Coming Off Front Fork

I have an 02 Wide Glide and recently noticed the chrome coming off my front forks in one isolated area. It appears that it will just continue to peel off as time passes. Any ideas on how to fix or prevent this? I wash my bike religiously so it's not from brake dust or other compounds. Perhaps just a defect during the chroming process. If possible I would like to prevent further peeling - or even fix the problem altogether. Any ideas on what to do?

If the chrome is peeling the only thing I can think of is to use clear nail polish to hopefully stop it from peeling further. If not it will need to be re chromed. As to why it peeled it is anyones guess. Poor prep job before chroming, not enough chrome put on, a scratch or chip that broke through the chrome etc.....Take your pick. We used to use the clear nail polish on bolt heads to stop them from rusting after they were installed back in the day and it did do a nice job.....

I'll certainly give that a try - not sure how well it will hold up to washing the bike often though. Thanks for the tip!
