Wow- so glad I decided to post this ridiculous thread. I was on the phone with work when I dropped the oil, wasnt paying attention, dumped the primary oil.

Thanks to DJY who asked a not so stupid question.

Side note- oil type and capacity for the primary case?

Wait, you said the bottom of the oil pan. That is the transmission. The primary drain is on the bottom of the primary case right below the clutch. Important to know which one it is.

Don't forgot to pull the dip stick out so you don't create a vacuum that will prevent some oil to drain. The plug nearest the jiffy stand is the oil drain plug.

All I remember was I pulled a downward facing plug not a side facing one, and my tranny fluid is reading full so I must have dropped the primary

Here at bottom of spring with bike level. Keep derby gasket same place and you may be able to use it over. Check your clutch adjustment while you are in there. Will post info if you need it. Less then a quart. Harley Formula +

primary drain is directly below the derby cover on the bottom of the inner primary case and is bottom facing, oil is on the bottom of the left side of the transmission/oil pan and is side*left side* facing. trans mission drain is on the right side fo the trans/oil pan and is bottom facing.

you fsm will have the EXACT specs for fluid BUT i run 20w50 synthetic royal purple max cycle * wet clutch friendly*

I use Amsoil 20 50 in Primary, you really cant overfill the primary if it is on jiffy stand with derby cover off. Any more than a quart will just run back out. Mine takes right at a quart.

Funny part is I have one. I was just in a rush. Lesson learned. Glad I didn't ride it.
