You would just buy a partial thread bolt instead of a full thread. I'm not 100% sure, but I think footpeg bolts are 3/8-16 with nylock nuts.
I believe he is referring to bolts with two different diameters for the threaded and unthreaded portions but those aren't used in many places and they are very obvious. I doubt the bolt/screw needed in this case is one of those.

I have a spare package of those H-Dbolts. I'll run and check and see if I can find them,..... They are easy to find unless I am actually looking fo rthem,....LOL

WOW,...... as luck would have it,... I actually found it. They come packaged in pairs. The H-D part# is 4059 self tapping screw

Take the bolt out from the other side and match it with another one at a hardware store. There is nothing special about the allen bolt and Lowes, Home Depot, any fastener store should have them.
I wasn't sure if a hardware store would have that type of bolt. I'll have to check.

You went to the dealer and couldn't get screwed???? You must be going to a good dealer then!!

If you go back to the dealer, have them look up the BOM (bill of material) on the peg you have. It should list the peg, and bolt. They should be able to find it that way.
They tried to screw me allright, but not the fun type of screwing...they tried to sell me an entire peg kit for just a screw ;-)

Yup, I'm going through the entire bike to make sure everything is tight and good to go. I'm going to have to remove the carb and clean it up. It appears that the previous owner stored the bike without purging the gas out of the carb or at least adding some sort of additive to the tank. The bike is pretty much brand new, but it needs some tlc in some areas.

I've used the chrome allen head bolts and chrome nylon lock nuts from Ace hdweon my pegs with no problems in about fifteen thousand miles.

Good Luck
