I think you've already answered your own question. Unless there is something seriously wrong with your current bike that you may be able to sneak by the dealer? If he's having a hard time moving a brand new one - then he's going to have an even harder time moving a used one. His trade offer will likely be insulting, but that's the nature of the business.

 

I've bought and sold alot of bikes in my 35 years of riding. The bottom line is, you're gonna take a hit every time you trade up. It's just a matter of how much. Financially, the most valuable lesson I've learned in all of this is that I needed tolearn how to be satisfied with what I have (i.e., I learned the difference between "want" and "need"). Most people in this world would give anything to have your "problem".
