Default Need Help...Removing Stripped Hex Bolt

I was trying to remove the bracket from the stock exhaust and I stripped out one of the hex bolts. Its in a pretty tight area. Cant get a drill in there at the right angle. The two front bolts were extremely tight. I sprayed with oil and let sit and was finally able to remove them. Any ideas on home to get this last bolt out? Pictures attached. Thanks!

Get a metal file in there & flatten the top/bottom edges so you can get a channel-lock or vice grip in there to work it loose...that's how I'd McGruber it off - good luck!

If you have a dremel. Grind a slit in the bolt and use a standard screw driver.

Make sure you use a reinforced cut off wheel on your dremel or the blade is likely to shatter with any kind of side pressure. This would be the easiest fix.

I've also had success with an "Easy-out" screw extractor. You may have to grind the tip of one of these bits to get a good bite in the screw socket.

+1 on the abve post... that would be my first try, if not i would grind off the head of it. pull the bracket off and get some vice grips on there to remove the peg

That is a Torx head bolt. Try using the correct size wrench for it. if that doesn't work, try a Dremel with a cut-off wheel.

This is a fairly soft bolt. Sometimes I've had luck stepping up to the next size male hex. Putting it on a short extension and tapping it into the bolt for removal. Tapping being the operative word.

The way I have do this is to take a sharp chisel and a hammer, do as stated above use a punce and tap a couple times in the middle of the bolt to loosen then use the chisel to back it out. take your time with care and it will come out.

+1 on that, try tapping the proper torx bit into it, if still not working go 1 size larger, usually you can tap it into it and get enough of a bite to break it loose. An impact driver tool can be very helpful in this case, but not required.
