Default New to Harley,Looking for your advice

Hello all,
New member here and very new too Harley.I've got a few questions for ya if you don't mind.

I'm looking at my first Harley and today I found exactly what i'm looking for.Heres alittle info on the bike.

2006 Street glide
11,xxx miles
Built 113 motor valued at $5-6000
custom six speed trans
exhaust valued at $2000
Paul Yaffy 19" wheels Valued at $3-4000
Bike itself is pretty much loaded

Asking price $16,800...With my trade(Sportbike) I'm looking at around $10,xxx.

What do you guys think about that price?

I would be keeping the bike for atleast seven years. Is a 2006 to old of a bike to have that long?

How's that mileage look?Too high of miles?

I'm sure I'll have more questions for you guy's later,Thanks for helping out a newbe!

Just curious, sounded pretty pricey so it kinda got my attention. With all the work it has done it is either a killer deal or could be a nightmare (quality of the motor/ tranny parts, who did the work, did they know what they were doing?). Good luck on the purchase though it's the right time of year to buy.

Personally I wouldn't touch it. Without knowing the builder and the history of how it was ridden your opening yourself up to problems.

When stuff starts breaking you won't have a clue as to what the internals are. When you find out it will probably cost more than its worth to start replacing stuff.

IMO, if your shopping for a used bike, buy one that is relatively stock. Ride the hell out of it and when it starts getting loose, rebuild it the way you want it. Then you will at least know whats in it.

I learned a lesson a long time ago to stay as far away as you can from a motor that someone else has put their hands on, your just asking for trouble. for 17k you can find an 08-09 hell maybe even a 10 model. Like stated before try to find one that's pretty much stock, if it's got a different a/c or muffler that's fine too.
