I'm 5'10 also and I've got 14" apes on the stock risers. They are the perfect height with the Lepera Barebones seat. I think 16" apes would be better when I use the Mustang Vintage Solo seat, it sits me up much higher.
PigInaBlanket, I have recently purchased an 03 Low Rider but want to do what you are suggesting. I also just recently installed the mustang vintage solo, so what length cables do you recommend, and are your stock risers 1"? My 03 has the ugly 4 1/2" H x 2 1/2" Pull Back risers and i want them gone asap!
Another question, what brand and length are your shocks? They are slick as hell!
I really favor the narrow apes on my bikes. I have them on my Sportster (14”) but opted to not do them on my Dyna, for now. But narrow apes, personally look the best.
Long time lurker, first I would like to say thanks to everyone who has contributed something to this forum, you have all helped me a bunch in both deciding what to and not to get for my own bike, but helped with steer me in the right direction on a couple PITA bikes during troubleshooting. So here is my 2013 FXDF Fat Bob with 20 Inch apes that are 1 1/4" diameter on 1 1/2" risers. Believe it or not, I am only 5'6", I just have ridiculously long arms. Look forward to getting to know everyone!
