this thread may be older than dirt but ill chime in anyway.

Flat out.....i miss the living hell out of my FXRS-SP. The FXDX tat i replaced it with is fine and all and hell of a lot faster, but the FXR was just an all around more fun bike. More nimble, dove into the turns like it was meant for and and most importantly...it was ALWAYS stable. none of that high speed wiggle dynas have.

Wadded it up in the side of Hyundai that ran a red light.

HDFXR.DK is a great site with specs and pics thru the years.
FXR's were somewhat lighter then TC Dynas, that should be given some of the credit for the perceived better handling...hyperbole aside, my FXDXT at 608lbs wet with Sputhe swingarm and mounts, composite rotors and 117ft lbs of torque was never "blown away" in the twisties by another HD. It was a very expensive bike, but suited my riding style at the time. It's been sold to another member here and I now have an FXDF, nice stable touring/cruising rig but no FXR or FXDX by any stretch...much more nimble than any FLH though...
