Dyna vs Softail

They're really the same bike. I mean, spend a couple grand more for a softail and look at all the benefits. 100+ lbs heavier, crappy frame and rear suspension design, no choice of foot controls, terrible handling, a horrendous bottom end that you can't rev past 6200, oh, and they absolutely suck to work on. But at least you can bolt on some apes and vance & hines and have an instachopper. And it won't shake at idle for all those main st stop lights.
Like others have said, the real question is, do you want to ride it? or do you want to look at it? If its the second one, dynas look better anyway

I loved the look. Really, that's what it came down to. My WG was the bike I wanted, color and all.
However, performance played another part in it. I came from a Sportster and I still have it. This is why performance was second to looks as I knew, no matter which bike I had, my Sportster would outhandle it. (And it does.) But between the two I felt the Dyna would handle closer to my Sportster than the Softail. Buddy of mine has a FatBoy Lo and he is always scraping his boards around corners that my Sportster would take without effort.
Since I have riden with a lot of folks with Softails and I've found, for the most part, that when I'm behind them following I'm cruising without pushing my bike even when they are pushing theirs and scrapping pegs/boards around many turns.

I test rode a fatboy special for about two hours before I bought my fat bob.
I couldn't shake the feeling that I was a vulgar kind of pornking when I rode the fat boy, like everybody was supossed to look at the awsome junk between my legs . I didn't like the floorboards and the way you sit on the bike like taking a crap. The ride was bouncy and cornering was bad,
Dyna's are way better bikes. Athough a softail is just soo pretty! (I mean that btw) So I agree with most, dyna = ride / softail = looks

I went with a softtail custom which gave me the leg room to stretch out. I do a majority of in town riding to work & such. I didn't want to be cutting through traffic on a bagger with boards grinding. There's already a ton of beach cruisers in my area. I couldn't handle my knees being right under me either. I like the look of the hidden shocks too.

I literally drive my 2011 FXDWG as hard as anyone. I love to accel fast and go hard and fast around turns. I have NEVER had any issues with the skinny front tire. Just like any other vehicle when you go over a bump or crevice in the road you are going to feel it but the faster your going the less you will notice.
