I didn't know exactly where to post this....

I bought my 2005 DYNA Low Rider two months ago as my first road bike and I love it, BUT coming from motorcross I don't ride it like a crusier. I love carving through the corners but it needs more power. I just test rode a 2007 Night Rod Special this moring and it was awesome!! I could'nt stop smiling after I rode it.

Now heres my dileimma- I don't know if I should trade my dyna for a v-rod or just spend the money trying to make my dyna faster? I ride A LOT, everyday, rain or shine. I felt comfortable on the v-rod but that was only a 20 min ride. What should I do?

 

What does the dyna currently have done to it? How much is the difference between the v-rod and dyna price wise? You can make a dyna pretty quick for about $2,500-$3,000, with a 2-1 exhaust, intake, tuner, and cams.

 

Coming from Dirt and Street I found the V was the perfect fit for me. I have an 06D that has Mid controls as well as a forward shifter , best of both worlds.

 

It's totally stock except the SE slip ons the the original owner had put on it . It would take a lot of time and money to get my crome bike to all black and to make it as fast as I want it to be AND somehow still be reliable.

 

Then I'd say vrod for the win, they're both awesome bikes.

 

i am a huge V rod fan... most of my friends hate them but i LOVE them... awesome bike, dyna or rod, tought to go wrong... i know guy that have over 6g in their motor and still can not take piped and intaked V rods... they are awesome bikes... really no down side

 

road one for about a hour loved it, but could never get comfortable, something about the way the bike sits,but that could be me, have had 5 seats and 4 sets of bars on my dyna, but now i can ride allday, and still get of the bike and standup and walk.

 

Did you ride a new Dyna? They have more power than the 2005 models.

 

I love both bikes. I actually went in to buy a new 2010 Dyna and rode out with a '09 used V-Rod with 2500 miles for the same price. It's hard to compare the two and even with $3000 into the motor on the Dyna you'll still be slower. Apples and oranges really. Now I have 20k plus on my V, and I've ridden my buddy's cammed FXDB a few times... Love the sound and rumble but he still can't keep up. I'll probably pick up a Dyna or FXR as project bike in the future though... Just a different tool for a different job.

As far as comfort goes, it's hard for a lot of people to get used to the low bars and forward controls. The stock seat is just as comfortable as the Dyna's but the low bars were taking their toll on me after 15,000 miles and frequent 2-300 mile days. I changed the bars to suit me and installed air ride to adjust the height, and did a few more mods to make it fit just right. The only other thing I may do is mid controls and cams. People everywhere say they've never seen another one like it. Love it or hate it, it's perfect for me. YMMV. And to all those who say they can't get comfy on one, there's an open invite to ride mine.
