Default Can I get rid of my choke?

Do I really need a choke on my 2000 FXD? I cranked the nut too hard and broke the plastic threads. Do I really need to replace the choke or can I just get rid of it? Thanks for any info.

Technically that is called an enricher, yes you need it for cold start, I have seen many ppl using thumb screw to lock the throttle during warm up, it's up to you. You can either buy the cable with the crap plastic **** or invest a metal **** so it won't break in the future.

It is an easy fix. I had to rebuild my CV and now have the enrichner attached to the top of carb - not the stock location as I relocated my ignition to the horn area.

I had never worked on a carb before and was a little intimidated on the enrichner, but took my time and it worked out fine. Made a "mountain out of mole hill."

Check out CVP for their mount.

Yes you do need the enrichner.

$12 for a new cable and about 30 minutes to put it on. I would not consider taking my choke off as I like my bike to start when I need to go somewhere.

Thanks you guys. Where can I get a metal one? Plus, I have a Mikuni Carb. How difficult is it to relocate the choke to just above the carb?

You can get a little bracket to do this with the standard Mikuni choke cable: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Alloy-Art-MK...2b6d68&vxp=mtr

There is this alternative. A tad 'pricey' tho. Choke eliminator from an ebay seller.
All Brass and attaches to the carb.
