Default Best motor recipe..

Picked up an 06 Super Glide with 1200 miles and the motor is BONE STOCK (TC 88).. Added a hybrid Thunderheader and an Arlen Ness Big sucker, even threw on a Fuel Pak, but she's gutless. My Evo would smash the daylights out of this 88".

So I'm looking for the best recipe for some reliable power without breaking the bank. I've already decided I'm going to pick up a set of D&D pipes, but what else ?

Will 96" cylinders bolt on, heads, maybe some injectors from a SE110 that we just took out. Just looking for some ideas.

an evo will definitely rip up a stock twin cam no problem...just build the motor, big bore, cams, headwork, etc etc...

Why is this? Why would harley go from a powerful platform and then change it, especially if not for the better?

Pretty popular and reliable build for TC88 (My brother and I will be doing this on his bike this winter):
95-97" big bore with flat top pistons (9.7:1 or so compression) - Axtell has a good price on boring your cylinders to 97" and matching pistons/gaskets

S&S 570 cams (EZ start are nice and don't require CR)

Mild headwork (Big Boyz)

A good tuner and dyno tune

This should make at or more than 100/100 and you will be happy. Your thunderheader and breather are more than adequate for the build.

In retrospect I wish I would have went with something like the build above, mine is not too much different but I have higher compression and aggressive headwork, the cams I have are to match my higher compression.

Thanks for the feedback so far... If I were to do it the way I wanted, I'm looking at almost $10k. Figure I would ask around before going crazy and doing a LOT of un needed work. Thought about just dropping in the 120R, but to get that where I would want it, I'm looking at another $5k on top of the original cost of the motor. Its not the overall hp that I'm after nessisarialy, its the explosive roll on power I'm looking for. Like the 60-100mph range. Thought about gearing, but on a HD its not as simple as it is on a sport bike.

I'm gonna start looking up parts, the reason I was asking about some stock bore sizes is that I have access to MULTIPLE sets of 96" jugs and heads that are fresh and free.

from what i remember, the 96" got the extra cubes by a longer stroke crank. Bores are the same size.

10 K...are you kidding...you can get a used Viper engine for that. Talk to the people at Revolution or S&S.
