Fat Bob 1/4 fairing prototype
#34
I'm just trying*to get a feel for what will be the most popular before I finalize the shape of the fairing.*As you can see this will be a one piece fairing (IE: no transparent windshield), this will keep cost down*and leave more area for color which is a more sinister look. I'm open to any suggestions - but please respond quickly as I've already begun creating this and will make good progress on this over the next month, with a goal of having it done in time for Christmas gift giving.
One piece
I'm not sure if I like it or not (without paint it's hard to tell). I'll wait and see
the finished product to pass judgement. On an all black bike it would probably look good, but I'm not sure about other colors...
Thanks for the update

I'm interested in seeing the final product. Right now I have a quick detach windshield that I will use on windy days or long trips, but don't really like the looks of. If this does a good job of diverting the wind and the final product looks decent, I may go with one. If it's quick detach, then I might be even more interested in it.

Got an email from Dougz this morning with more pictures. This is the progress as he describes it.
Good Saturday afternoon everyone,
The attached images show what the fairing is looking like with the headlight opening 'return' now roughly in place. I'm leaving about a 1/4 inch gap all the way around the headlight assembly to allow for adjustment of the headlight. I'll create a separate shroud to cover the top of the headlight assembly from inside the fairing to eliminate light reflection.
After much pondering I've come up with a way to make the mounting of the fairing 100% detachable using H-D's lockable quick clamps. It will take no more than 10 seconds to remove or install the fairing making it much easier to clean behind and also for those of you who like to use a bigger windshield for long rides, you'll be able to switch back and forth in seconds.
Feel free to share this mailing with anyone you feel would be interested.
Thanks much and have a great day!

I can't wait to see the finished product mounted. Then I can't wait to see one mounted on my Fat Bob.
