Default best tool kit for an 03 FXDWG

I'm sure this has been discussed before, I'll search the archives. If anyone has a suggestion on one that would be great, or a good thread with a build your own tool kit list maybe??? Looking at the Cruz tool kits at the moment.

Just make up your own, it's a lot cheeper, small socket wrench, socket for plugs, extra plug
multi tool, small sockets that fit, ect.

I made my own. I bought cheap tools because they aren't going to be used often and they could get stolen. I included in mine:

-A 3/8" ratchet and extension
-All necessary sockets (6 pt, torx, spark plug socket, 12pt for brakes)
-Hex key set
-an adjustable wrench
-compact channel lock pliers
-small needle nose pliers with cutter
-small flat head and phillips head screwdrivers
-tire pressure gauge
-assorted zip ties, rubber bands, butt splices, heat shrink, fuses, etc.

Everything fits into a 10" square tool bag. You could even eliminate some of the above items with a multi-tool as mentioned above. It's basic, but I'm not going to be doing major work on the side of the road.

Yea I was thinking along the same lines with some harbor freight tools. I already carry a leatherman crunch but its nice to have a screw driver with a longer reach. Was also thinking about a miniature 12 volt air compressor and tire plug kit.

=========
What constitutes "All necessary sockets"?
I can't find that anyone has posted an inventory of what the socket/allen/torx set would look like.

e.g. Sockets - 9/16, 1/4, & 7/16; Torx/Allen set from 3/16 - 3/4 (pulling numbers out of my ***), etc.

Any help on specifics here would be appreciated.

I have been coast to coast on a Dyna of that vintage. I carry tools in the tool bag made for the front of the bike; started with a Harley tool kit roll, but have added things to it. You don't need a bunch of sockets, you can do most repairs with just wrenches. I need a 7/16 deep socket to take off my air cleaner backing plate. I have had the starter **** out twice, so I carry a 2nd 1/4 hex wrench with the L cut off so I can put it in a 1/4" socket and take out the starter. I keep some lube, a mini test light, tie wraps, mini flashlight...electrical tape, some wire. I've had the throttle cable break, back brake line blow, wires in the hand controls short out, starter die, petcock take a dump, motor mount break, etc., but I've always gotten back home with the tools I have. I did have to buy a huge screw driver at Home Depot in the middle of wyoming when the motor mount tanked though. I needed it to pry up the engine while I replaced the mount.
