Dyna Speedometer stops working on long trips
Oh.. get this - whenever I go on an extended trip my speedometer stops working at about the 50 mile spot and the odometer stops recording the miles traveled and the automatic shut off for the turn signal stops. Two days after I get back from the trip and after I drive the short distance from work to home (I ride daily) the speedometer and the odometer and turn signals begin working as if nothing has been wrong.
I have changed the Turn Signal Module, cleaned the very dirty speed sensor, checked and reconnected grounds back to the battery - ??? I did notice that the bike (when the items stop working) is a little sluggish to start as well.
Any ideas out there??
shell.

It's a Harley, you're not supposed to ride it that far.
Seriously, a little more info on the bike might be helpful. What year, model?
I'm assuming it's a newer one since you have a TSSM module. My first guess would be the actual gauge itself it you already have checked the ground, including the battery one.

I know this sounds stupid but check your rear connections too. Was working on a softail with some similar issues and for the hell of it I pull the rear connection of the harness loom and found that everything on the other side of the bike was filthy. Clean it up added some new dye electric grease and VIOLA! Everything works now!

Same problem
Well, what's the verdict? I have the exact problem on an "02 Electra Glide. Fault codes are for speedometer error and rear injector open. I haven't run through the testing to see if it is the sensor or the speedometer, but I was planning on it tonight when I ran across your thread.
