It is a lot easier if you run short struts on the back. In the wind.

Those uknown ind. guys are making me wish I had the stock length swingarm on my fxr. Before, the previous owner would would pull second gear power wheelies and then he could be rolling at 70 and dump the bike in third and it would stand straight up and run off all the way up over 100 easy. It has back cut gears in the trans and a 30t front pulley and SE heavy clutch springs oh and 93hp. (not to mention he was a hell of a rider having racedpro flattrack in his younger days)

Damn. I wonder what was going through that guys mind after he stopped rolling... Was it "damn, I just f*ked myself up" or "damn, I just f*ked my bike up bad", or "damn, I feel like a total tool right now"

probably all of the above. that was a bad choice to A; do that in such a tight space and B; have some puddles at the end of your runway hahahaha.

Frankly, I've never understood riding a motorcycle that can't pull a wheelie. If it's too heavy, or underpowered, it's probably not going to be much fun for anything, let alone wheelies. Thats just my own ******* opinion I've been riding my whole life, but only owned a Harley for the last 4-5 yrs. And as soon as I can figure out how to get my '10 Wide Glide pull a nice graceful wheelstand, I'm forced to keep my CBR1000RR. That bike pulls wheelies like an excited dog on a leash. Also, I love my Harley and wouldn't want to hurt it with my poor Harley wheelie skills. My biggest worry is all that weight coming down hard on the front end when I mess up a shift or hit the right foot panic lever.

Also, Harleys have been doing wheelies for a looong time. Nobody's breaking any ground there. Anybody can wheelie a sportbike. But when you see a nice wheelie on a Hog, THATS badass!

Smooth up, Smooth down, and I can't imagine you'd hurt anything besides some clutch plates. Have fun and be safe!
