Guys, please excuse my ignorance. But how often do the bearings need to be pulled?

Default Pulling a Bearing

The difference is then you hammer in a bearing than you are only pulling on the inside race. If you are taking them out and throwing them away than it really does not matter. If you press the bearing in properly by pressing them in from the outer race than it is just fine. Make sure the bearing is going in straight or you will have big problems. Make sure you locate the wheel bearing axle spacer or again it could be a bitch is you do not get it in line or a gap could occur on the second bearing.

I have owned a Jims which I paid around $265, I am sure the Georges is the same. I am not impressed with the Pit Possy's tools at all nor do I like doing business with them.

Is this the same tool for pulling and installing crankcase bearings also?

Found this thread in a search. In years past I've used a large socket to tap in my wheel bearings, is this not a preferred method on Harleys? Is there another method of removal for them other than the HF or Amazon tool?

And to the op: getting a credit card then cutting it up is a bad idea. Damages your credit. Not worth it for saving a measly $30.

Most folks will only use the bearing remover and installer once a year or less.
However, some of us guys just like tools and prefer to have one available when it is needed.
I use the Harbor freight bearing remover, doesn't matter if it is messed up or not I am not going to reuse it anyway. I use a hydraulic bottle jack to install bearings. Works great and most folks has bottle jacks. Works great, you can install the bearing slow and easy so keeping it level is easy.
just a thought
