Andrews 26 would be good for your stated goal. Yes you will feel the difference. Do a search on cams, lots of info in here. You're looking at around $900 to do the job right.

Agree with Andrews 26 for a big bore 95" set up. ( Higher compression.) But for an 88" the Andrews 21 seems to be more recommended.

The point is that yes, 'just a cam' can make for a significant improvement, providing the cam choice is designed for a mostly stock motor. (Stage I e.g.) And with an '01, with it's excellent crankshaft you could consider gear drive cams and get rid of the chain tensioners too! ( Of course, that's more money.)

And there are many, many choices available. Please do your homework and talk to several of the people that install them before you make your decision.

And while you are doing cams you are only a few minutes and a few $ from a big bore. Its a slippery slope! Good luck.

I would go with a 26 over a 21 on a stock dyna they only have 500 rpm difference. I have the 26 in my bike, I noticed a difference on my bike when I just installed cams. The 37 is more for 95 with high compression.

So will some of the site sponsors. That is about the norm. $170+ or so to bore and then the price of pistons.

The 26 is a good cam for the 88" on a dyna. The 21 would be better if you do more 2-up or had a heavier bike. The 26 will also work with a mild big bore. You will want to step up to a 37 or 57 though if you want more out of the big bore.

By the time you buy cam's a gasket kit and have the bike rejetted your looking at 5-600 bucks i got my big bore kit for $630 then $30 for a reflash then about $120 for the final tune on the dyno. My 2 cents is save your money and get the bore kit when you can afford it.
