FXDXT Saddlebag rebuild

As far as the cordura material itself, the stuff we got is a little thicker and stiffer than the stuff Harley used, though it does look a little different when you get up real close. The Harley stuff has a little bit coarser weave, but I think that material must have been discontinued, as none of the vendors I contacted had it.

Just looking at the Conelys bags and they kind of point downward at the rear even with long rear shocks, which was not how the original FXDX bags were.Conelys bags also seemed to be right directly in the line of fire of a Thunder header.
By looking at the mold form of the back plate you have pictured previously on the bike during fab, your bags seem to not have this issue. I am sure this detail will be something people focus on. The locking feature on your bags is a HUGE bonus. Keep up the good work!
I am looking forward to pics of your saddle bags installed especially with the Thunder Header!!

UPDATE
I got quite a lot done today. I now have all 4 of the lid cutting dies finished. I just cut one of each of the parts, and placed them next to the pieces from the stock lid we took apart. If the new parts appear to be a little bigger, it is because they are. That stock Harley lid had shrunk up so much, you couldn't even snap it down, so we had to make the pieces a little bigger, which is what they probably were when the bag was new.
Next week we will cut a lot of pieces and start sewing the lids together.
Keep ridin'
