Smile Gen 2 Wide Glide tank lift with Apes

Hi guys, I am thinking about doing something a little different to my bike. Thinking about doing a tank lift with my 12”z bars but I can't seem to find a picture of 1 that someone has already done. I'm just trying to get an idea of how this would look. I'm sure I'm looking over some pictures here on the forum but I would appreciate if someone could post a picture or 2. I guess a picture of any Dyna would do. Thank you very much in advance.

I don't care for how the tank lift looks but to each his own. You should be able to find something here: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...-our-mods.html

I made a 2 1/4" lift for my 07 today. I like the way it looks, but I had to put a small weld on each turn stop to keep the top tree from hitting the tank. At work now but I put up a pc when I get home.

Check out my album. Fat Bob with 2 inch tank lift and Todd's cycles 13 inch Fatbob bars on 1.5 inch risers. The Fatbob bars from Todd's cycles are similar to a z bar.

Sorry to hijack the thread but with the newer wide glides (2010 and up) will there be any issue with the front end hitting the tank while steering with a 2'' lift

It varies bike to bike. HD has not been consistent in what trees they use on the Wide Glides for the last 10+ years. What will fit on one 2012 WG will not fit on another 2012 WG.

We just had a Customer with a 2012 WG last week that a 2" would not work, but a 2.5" & a 3" worked. 2 days later we had another Customer with a 2012 WG that the 2" fit but not the 2.5" or 3". They were the same bike, even the same paint, but they had different trees from the factory.

Here is a pic of a 2012 WG with a 2.5" lift-

The best thing to do is check for clearance on yours...it is easy-

1. With bike on kickstand, take the bolt out of the front of your tank.

2. Loosen (do not remove) the bolt at the rear of your tank.

3. Turn your handlebars all the way to the left and raise the tank up your desired tank lift height to check for clearance issues.

4. Turn your handlebars all the way to the right and raise the tank up your desired tank lift height to check for clearance issues.
