Another oil leaking from air cleaner thread
I know this seems to be a common problem, but I just want to determine if I need to worry about it. I have not had a recent oil change on my 11 SB so my level is good. I did put a SE stage one filter on it about 500 miles ago but just noticed an oil drip today. I was idling in traffic so I know the bike was hot. Could this cause it? Im not sure where to begin.

Higher flow air cleaners can be more prone to blowback. Try running 1/4 to 1/2 quart lower than you normally would. I had this issue, I now top my cold fill to the bottom of the hash marks on the dipstick, no issues. Hot fill shows almost all the way up top still as well.
....or you over-oiled your filter

I need to go into more detail. I have had the stock shaped oblong SE filter on it for over a year with no issues. I replaced it with the round SE air filter which has the exposed element a couple months ago. I had to mount a new backing plate to fit it on. It has been fine for the past couple months but just noticed a drip today. I am wondering of one of the seals failed?

After I clean my filter I do not get the oil drip for a while, depends on how hard I ride. It has gone more then a month without leaking at all. Mine has been doing it since 07, I do really mind, I just wipe it up. I never seem to get the oil level low enough to avoid the problem, but like I said, it is not a big deal to me.
