Default Changing my pipes

I own a 09 FATBOB and i am thinking about purchasing slip on mufflers, do i need to retune the EFI? I've heard it is pretty easy to change exiting mufflers. Getting mixed messages.
Any suggestions for mufflers with real harley sound?

If you're just putting slip on's, you don't need a re-tune. If you do high flow air cleaner and slip on's, you'd probably be fine without a retune, but I did because I wanted the POWA! Just make sure you're not running too hot if you don't re-tune.

I have V&H slip ons and I think they were PLENTY loud enough. Even with quiet baffles. Runs fine without a tuner. Easy install.

Rush slip-ons with 1.75" baffles and love the sound. Deep burble at idle (no harsh or tinny like others I have heard). Barks a bit louder when hard on the throttle. No re-tune and runs fine.
I may get full exhaust down the road but I have more important things I'm upgrading now that the sound is good and "Harley like"

I put v&h slip ons and like the sound . I didn't buy a fuel management system until I put a big sucker filter on. I looked around and got prices from my local tuner which everyone says is great and something you need to do. I couldn't really afford it. I went with a Vance and Hines fuel pack and couldn't be happier. The bike runs much better and cooler. I don't plan to do anything but stage one and I think that is the key...good luck

Simple to put on mufflers. I did my FatBob not long ago and it took half an hour tops. I didn't even have to loosen the heat shield. Put some sort of penetrating oil on the joints a couple hours before you do the switch or you will have a lot of frustration getting the old ones off!

A few days after I got my street bob back in 2010 I found a guy on Craigslist selling "Screamin' Eagle II's" for $100 so I picked those up. I have loved the sound of them over the years. Hopefully switching up to v&h big radius soon. Iv been running the slip ons for over 2 years with no tuner you'll be fine.

get the full exhaust now, really not that much difference in price.

Rush slip ons were 350 and V & H propipe is 479. You'll get better performance and get rid of the cat. It will run cooler too

Default Back to the original questions............

You will not need to re-map with just the exhaust change as said before.

But if you do install a fuel management system, be prepared for a loss in fuel economy.
