Mine had to be replaced at 50,000 miles. I got a bad speed wobble in a curve, was lucky to not go down. Warranty replaced it and the bike rode better than it did new.
My front one was out when I bought my '98. The bike would rattle somthing awful when I hit bigger bumps, it was a hard metal on metal BANG! the bike had 42k on it then.
For me it was a banging noise when I applied only the rear brake and my wife was on the back. A firm push of the rear brake on a loaded down Dyna was enough for that worn out rear mount to allow a sagging motor to clackity clack clack against the frame. Baffled me at first but I swapped out the mounts and it fixed the problem. THEN, a crazy thing happened. The high speed sweeper wobble that had me all freaked out got better. Not fixed, but better. Its the circle of life, lol.
I seem to change my front one every other year. The bars start to pound when the mount sags and it becomes metal hitting metal.I think I have been lugging the motor too much and that is hard on the mount. I'm really working on riding with the rpm's up a little higher this year.
Thanks for the replies. Seems like I might have a motor mount issue. I'm getting a hard bang when I hit bumps. I guess I'll get down and check it out in the morning. I'm just shy of 18k miles.

I guess another question here would be whether to replace with OEM, or is there a better aftermarket mount for the money?
I have been noticing a thumping noise when I go over bumps, lately. I suspect bad front mount.
