2006 Dyna Primary Bearing Problem?

Don't really know what cryo treating is but hopefully this will help. When mine failed it was not really the bearing, it was the inner race that failed. This is a two piece bearing, the bearing itself is pressed into the primary cover and the inner race is pressed onto the input shaft of the transmission. On mine the race had not been hardened properly and bearing wore the top layer off the race. They showed me the old bearing as well as the race and it looked like they could have put it back in, but they didn't. Theyf ixed mine free of charge even though it went after the warranty had expired. And I did not get the letter.

If I'm not mistaken it wasn't a problem with the bearings but that the 06 Dyna's were "guinea pigs"for changes in the drive train HD made. The reason for the inspection was to quantify if there could be a problem with the changes they made and if so what actions they had to made prior to implementing the same change in the rest of the line up.
Once HD understood the effects of the changes and that there was no excessive wear an tear on the bearings they stopped the inspection requirement. Doubtful any lawsuits would come close to winning based on this scenario.

The hardfacing or hardened part of the crank came off in a mates sporty he was a week out of warranty and they refused to help him out.
He showed me the crank it wasn't bearing failure it is the hardened parts aren't hard enough and they wear.
the bearing sits out of whack because of the wear on the shaft then they get ripped apart.
We all get ripped off again.

Failure at 4300 Miles
My IPB started making a racket at 3500 miles and 800 miles later it was history. Out of warranty, but wrote what I thought was a convincing letter to H-D requesting a refund of my replacement costs. Unfortunately (or maybe not), I installed an aftermarket bearing and they wouldn't cover a cent of it. They did mention though that if I would have installed an H-D bearing they might have "helped me". I am only at 5300 miles, so can't offer any insight into how long this new bearing will last, but good luck to you all.
