Not really. I've showed the tailight to more than one EVO over the years. You just have to pick your battles. If I'm going to bike week and going to be doing short runs, I run a 20 tooth sprocket on the front, instead of the 22 I normally ride on. Eating EVO's redlight to redlight is easy. Just don't let them run you on the open road, because she tops out at about 90 mph......Admittedly, I'm talking about '03 and back EVO's....I haven't tried one of the newer ones on for size....I doubt if the results would be much different since they weight quite a bit move.

I'm coming off a Buell XB12S Lightling which is the sportster engine in a much smaller and lighter frame. There is no question which one is quicker and faster. The Buell will win out in the 1/4 mile and top speed. I don't think the Sportster would be much different in the 1/4 may be in top speed. But if speed is what you want, you could always buy a used 600cc jap sportbike for around 3,000 and whip everything on the road save for top tier sportbikes.

For what it is worth, my 80 Sportster 1000 would eat my 06 dyna for lunch. Built before Stagees were a buzz word. Currently, I own a 99 1200S Sportster and an 06 Dyna Super Glide and I can tell you I woould bet on the Sportster. I would say that both are stage 1 but I suspect the cams in the Sportster are not stock. Also the pipe is a Supertrapp and the Dyna has SE II pros. Which one do I like the best? The Dyna beats the Sportster for cross country but the Sportster is sooooooo much more fun to ride.

Why don't you rent the two candidates and deside for yourself. Remember though, most people will tinker with their rides and you will get embarresed by someone big time no matter which you choose.

Yep, no rev limiter or even a "red line" on the tach, at least noton my '77. You just hold her open till a she quits pullin', the valves float, or she grenades.

I have both and I would say that the Sporty is faster for about the first 100 feet or so. This is just a seat of the pants feel with me putting the coals to each bike.

I think out on the highway my Dyna is faster. Talking about rolling at 35 or so and putting the twist on full. Gearbox on the sporty is just to close to be able to keep up.

The weight difference is huge. hp and tq Per pound is way higher on the sporty.

well,my thoughts here. if i had wanted pure speed,i would have bought a crotch rocket. not a harley. i just know my bob will scream. i think it is faster than my previous sporty. sporty felt like it was going to blow at interstate speeds !!! the xtra weight helps the dyna so much on the interstate. so,to me which one is faster is not important at all ..................

I'm w/ mud, my '06 1200 R would do 120 - my TC Bob can't do much better than 112. Both have the SC 1 upgrades...

My bob does 110mph at the drop of a hat, before the frontend starts to wallow. I see no reason the Dana won't do 130mph with a fewsuspension mods.
