Default Bike Shut Off while riding - Restarted

Was riding my 02 FXDWG yesterday on the highway, but shut off, coasted to a stop, cranked but would not restart, turned the ignition switch off then on, it restarted, rode back home.

Have owned it since new, first problem in 10 years.

Any help would be appreciated.

Check fuses. Mine did that a couple times. Not while riding but wouldn't start sometimes. I noticed when i removed the main fuse and put back in it fired right up no problem. I put dielectric grease on the fuses and haven't had a problem since.

I had the same problem on my '02 super glide. I'm curious to find out what it might have been.

How about check the simple stuff first like the ignition switch terminals.

That's what came to mind for me... I just haven't taken the time to check it out. When I get around to it I will post my findings.

I've got a $3.00 main circuit breaker in the fender bag on my 02 Dyna. I figure after all these years, all the juice going through it, and the vibrations shaking it, someday It might crap out. Actually put there for a road trip. Some touring (earlier) models had to have theirs replaced and upgraded due to heat and age. It would shut down the bike and after recycling the switches they would fire right up.

I only suggest that because I had that issue twice during the same ride and happened to be close to a dealer. That's what they found. Corroded terminals on the ignition switch.
