Ticking can always be herd in these engines and can be made worse when certain parts combo's are added, so the question is, is it normal? My TW8-6 is pretty noisy, but it's to be expected with that type of aggressive cam. Does you bike have agressive aftermarket cams ? Poorly adjusted pushrods can cause excessive ticking. Lifter bleed down can be another cause. Excessive play in the rockers is another reason. If you feel it's more than normal I would suggest investing in a stethoscope ( available at Harbor Freight for short $ ) and going through the engine to determine where it's coming from. They are very effective tools and you will be surprised at what you will hear with them.

You can compare the sound yours makes to mine in a video I just posted.

The video is only about 1 minute long but about the last 10 seconds you can hear the valve train whizzing along just like somebody said, sounds like a heavy duty sewing machine.

My internals are all stock, stock cams, stock pushrods.

Seldom do I get to use the search function in a forum to directly answer my question. Being a sport bike rider since 2004, and dirt bikes before that, I thank the experienced and knowledgable that have contributed to this post.

[QUOTE=Fatbob10;9885322]Mine did the same thing dealer said its normal. Recentaly changed my motor oil (20w50) and transmission to Amsoil what a differance! The motor lost its ticking and has almost 700 miles since oil change. Just changing the oil has made a big differance.[/QUOTE
I use Valvoline 25/50 racing Dino oil and a half bottle of the old, thick STP. It runs way quieter than syn-- in my book

drain that motorcycle oil out and replace with Valvoline VR1 Full Synthetic Racing Oil and the noises will stop. i had all that ticking in my 2002 tc88. sounded like marbles rolling around in the top end. replaced with automotive racing oil and it doesn't make a sound anymore.
