I think it has to do with the law of averages. We are all just as adept for turning left or right, but in North America we drive on the right hand side of the road, so more often you have to slow or even stop for oncoming traffic to turn left where as on the right you just come barreling up and hang right... feel me? Basically saying the same as nahtanw.
Probably a combination of me feeling more comfortable on my "right side," as well as turning right more often, often with more speed, and thus more lean.
High speed left turns....always drag that passenger peg mount. I try NOT do to that on right turns...as pipes are expensive , but occasionally, I will get it down that far.
Having big skis, I actually tend to drag my heel before I feel in on the pegs. First couple months of riding my fat Bob it scared the )$(%&* out of me a few times.

A good theory...except we here drive on the correct side of the road and I've always scraped the right peg much more than the left.
