I completely ruined a set of pipes with the amount of heat that was caused byvthe down load.

I spent about 1400 for the pipe, tuner, air cleaner and a 2 hour tune and the bike runs cooler than any I have ever had and runs perfect.

 

Is this true? First time I ever heard this...

 

Absolutely true! Spent an entire summer and lots of $$$$ trying to get that bike (2007 Road King) to run right with the Power Commander. Finally took it to a HD mechanic with over 30 years of experience and the FIRST thing he said was "get that f******kin Power Commander OFF your bike!" Power Commander III's bypass the o2 sensors, and that's not a good thing, IMHO. It was $350 WASTED. My dealer tried to convince me that "they all do that", but, funny, when I took the mechanics advice and had him take the PC III off, my bike ran good again. Traded it in for the FXDC about two weeks after that because I discovered I don't really like riding a bagger. Had the FLRHC less than one year.

 

Get a power vision from these guys http://www.fuelmotousa.com/powervision.htm and mount the unit on the bars. You will not regret it.

 

They all tell you to ditch the tuners. When set up correctly that download can't compete. Sucks that you had a bad run with one. But that download only keep the emissions afr legal. It don't help cool it or make more HP or trq.

But as usual its like helmet laws and ABS. We all have different views. As long your happy and the bike runs good. That's the bottom line.

 

The two dealers nearest to me haven't offered the download for a couple of years. I have been told by the head mech at each place more or less the same thing: The download does nothing on 2007+ bikes. These bikes can make their own adjustment for stage-1 hardware as good as that of the download. In other words, you'd be paying money for nothing but a slight increase in the rev limiter.

I have no reason to doubt this because its seeing these dealers lose sales of the downloads, but I guess they would rather do that than sell something that does nothing.

 

To have the whole job done (V&H st shots, air intake,dyna tune ect...) at HD Moroneys NY with tax added its 1700.00

 

okay im new at alot of this-but what exactly is the download? I'm in the market to get a set of Vance & Hines pipes soon-i tried cycle shack slip ons and i dont get the sound i want-so im going with a set of complete pipes-i heard i have to get it tuned-so whats the download?
