Default New tire time, Metzeler rear question.

Hello all, I am about to order a new set of tires and I am going with a 120/70-21 for my new front wheel I just got, but when it comes to the rear I was trying to decide between the 160/70-17 or 170/60-17 and was wondering if anybody had a recommendation between the 2, also if you know a place cheaper than denniskirk on the tires please let me know, its about $340 shipped for both tires through DK.

I go with the 60. Check Jake Wilson for pricing. Free shipping...is always good.

Try Direct Harley Parts. I just checked the other day and the rear was less than $200 with free freight. I have the SE180 but am going with the 170 nex time. The SE180 is over $250.

Your owners manual lists the correct tire size. But use the higher pressure recommended by Metzler (good choice). Best price I found on ME880's was at Rocky Mountain ATV.

Tire prices all over lately, best to check around, DK, Jake Wilson, also ck Tireexpress.com, they get deals there at times.

Love my Metz 170/60R-17 radial
I also picked up a (radial) tube for it having spokes and all.

From what I could find jake wilson didn't have a 120/70-21 and tire express didn't carry that size either, to trip, the screenshot you showed is for a MH90-21, and the rear tire is definitely more expensive than DK there.

Any benefits to going with 170/60 vs 160/70 in the rear?

Only if you go with the "R" (radial)... Those "butt wiggles" you experience when changing lanes out on the freeway will go away.

I run a Metz' 170 VR60 17 on my Superglide... "Day & Night" difference in the ride out on the freeway.

Hope this helps....

Best wishes....Tim(HT)
