Agreed, if you're going to lay your bike up for winter change the oil before doing so, don't leave dirty oil sitting in an engine for months on end.

[=jmeiers;9715542]HAHA! I was thinking the same thing. Poor bike prolly got more dust on it than bug guts! [/quote]
Tough bunch. I ride it 3 or 4 times a week to the gym or just to ride. Same with my car and I only put about 4K miles on that. Down here in Florida I can ride it all tear. They are both "recreational" vehicles. The wife's car get most of the miles.

Have owners manual.....read owners manual! Don't intend to service the bike myself so not getting a service manual. Owners manual does not say 5K miles or 1 year whichever comes first like both of my automobile manuals. It simply states 5K miles and there is no note 3 (which indicates annually) like there is for checking the brakes, clutch cable and a couple other maintenance items. So there much be a reason they do not specify that. I am sure a lot of riders don't put 5K miles on their bikes.

Here's a maint schedule. My view is new oil is never a bad thing. Do it at least as often as recomended...
P.S. This is for an 08 FXDC but can't imagine much diffenence. Check w/ yer dealer.

Pretty harsh harleyphoenix. I have other obligations and unfortunately don't get to ride as much as I use to. I ride to work as often as I can but it is very hard on dress clothes so most of my riding is on the weekend. If you think I'm a poser you are entitled to your opinion, but I am also entitled to mine if you get my drift.
