My bike is kinda sick... ideas?
After a long trip a couple weeks ago, the bike hasn't seemed to be the same. I can't seem to figure out the problem, so thought I'd post the symptoms here.
It doesn't seem to rev as high, seems to have more vibrations, seems to pop and backfire a bit more and doesn't seem to pull as hard.
I thought it was bad gas, so I ran it out and been putting good stuff in. I also replaced the plugs and wires, but they didn't look real bad.
Any ideas what could cause this? I do not have a power commander or anything like that, but instead the SEPST map that I've been running for almost a year.
I wouldn't say it runs real bad now, but it does seem to be running differently and not as strong as before.

Exhaust leak? Check all the connections in your exhaust system. This would be something easy to do first & could cause your symptoms.
Had this happen to me on a Sporty one time...same symptoms as you describe. Turned out my cross-over pipe had cracked and was leaking. New part=problem solved.

From reading what you posted as symptoms, I would start looking at doing a compression & leak down test on the motor. Also on the intake is a capped off vacuum port, I would put a vacuum gauge on it and get a reading on that also. Once you have those two sets of readings you should know if it's a mechanical problem or not, if/and everything is OK, then it is an electronic problem.
but what do I know
