Default Speaker Hum

Recently I installed a set of speakers on my dyna. When I turned them on I was getting a hum thru them with or without audio applied to them. I did some troubleshooting the problem and found it to be a rear brake light kit I installed the year before to convert the rear indicator lights to work with the brakes. I have tryed a couple of in-line filters to stop the problem of the hum with no luck.

Has anyone run into this problem and find a solution so I can have my speakers and rear brake light kit running together.

The most important part of any electrical system is good grounds. Make sure your receiver is grounded well and all parts of the chassis are grounded together. Finally, make sure all of your circuits are grounded well. Make sure your speaker terminals aren't grounded together. Remove the connections to each speaker to see if you can track it down to one side.

Go to a stereo electronics store and ask them about a noise filter or noise isolation filter. You can wire in line to your radio. They help reduce the electronic feedback you get from ignition and other accessories.

The easiest way to fix that problem is to remove the speakers.
