Exclamation *2012 tarnished primary cover!@##$%!!

Ok boys I really need your help!! I have a brand new 2012 red switchback that I love!

I washed it and now what I thought was chrome (at least that is what the dealership told me!) looks completely tarnished!! It tarnished all my covers but the pipes are fine. So what happened?!? Are those covers not made of chrome?

Does anyone have any suggestions other than buying all new covers? I'm so upset!!

Those are not chromed, just polished aluminum. Personally I'd have them powder coated. But you can have the chromed as well, just whatever you do will cost you extra money and downtime.

Try Blue Magic, it is a metal polish and it works great. I just picked some up at the auto parts store monday.

What did you wash it with? I have a new FLD, haven't washed it yet, heck I haven't even had it for a ride out yet. If it looks like that after a regular washing, I'm going to be pissed too.

I never heard of Awesome! Does it have ammonia in it? That would possibly explain the tarnishing.

It might. It works so good on oil and bug guts! I've used it on my old bike and never had anything happen. So I kinda freaked!
