06 street bob question

06 street bob question
Iam thinking about getting an 06 street bob with 23000 miles on it and a few extras with it. Is their any issues with this year and does it have enough HP to haul 2 around . And is $9500 to much just wondering if i should find something with the 96 motor and alittle newer.
I have an 09 vrod NRS now with stageII kit, Air cleaner kit, V&Hcomp series 2into1,and SE pro super tuner. This bike runs strong, but iam looking to just cruise alittle and keep this bike to go nuts at the drags.

I have an '06 Low Rider with about the same mileage as Street Bob you are looking at. Only performance mods are V&H Slip-ons, Stage 1 A/C, and Power Commander IIII.
Couple of comfort mods like seat and windshield, etc.
Plenty of power for 2-up riding, which is most of the riding I do.
Common issue with '06 Dynas is failure of inner primary bearing. Plenty of info in Dyna section if you want to do a search. My bearing failed twice and had bearing replaced at no cost to me. Failed a third time last October and H-D authorized dealer to replace bearing and replace trans case with one with alignment dowels. They tell me that this fix will prevent future bearing failure.
Does seller have service history for the bike?

The stator/rotor is also a known problem with the 06 bikes. They bolted them on 06 bikes and welded it on the 07 and later ones. The bolts would come undone and tear crap up.

I personally wouldn't buy an 06 unless I knew for sure those problems had been solved on the bike already.

$9500 seem high to me. I paid $8000 3 years ago with 15000 miles, saddlebags and windshield. I would get the serial number and have a dealer check....Early models had issues with IPB and Stators that were corrected mid year 2006. Later models didn't have the problems the early ones did.

The Tech I had do the motor is stand up, a good friend and well beyond the BS one might get from the local dealership.

You never heard it because it isn't true. Late build bikes are just as prone to these very same failures. My IPB went at 15k and the rotor came apart at 19k, production date of 04/06.
