In over 3500 miles on the dyna, I have used it twice. But those two times were perfect because of it! On the sporty, I would guess less than 10% of my 22k miles were with the windshield.

I do not care for the look on dynas and sportys, but it's very funtional. I'd say go for it.

I put one on on the third day of my ride out to Sturgis back in 2005 and it rarely comes off now. I have my Glide set up as a tourer with bags, windshiled and a Corbin Dual Tour.

Thanks everyone. A lot more yes's then no's. I will most likely be visiting my HD store in the coming weeks.

I have the HD quick detach windshield (FL):

ON - Heavy Rain, Cold, Love Bugs, Interstate 60+ mph

OFF - nice weather, local driving under 60mph

the guys that voted no should post their mileage in the last year...If you'redoing a fair bitof hwy riding you'll want it. If you're riding to hooters to show off your spotless bike every thurs then you don't need it.
My vote is the same as most on here. Yes, you won't regret it on the hwy. The nice thing is you don't need to weld it to the forks. Take it off when you don't feel like using it. I take mine off for rides under thirty miles.

I posted a fast reply and don't see it on the board. Did I do something wrong or is that it wasn't posted because I mentioned Jacks Flaps? A full windsheild and J's Flaps provide a nice ride. Saves you using the lower screens.

I have put 9,200 miles on my bike since March 2nd 2006 when i bought it. I wont put a winshield on my bike. On long rides and cold weather i wear a full face helmet to cut the wind noise, keep off the bugs, and i also have speakers in it for my Ipod so i stay entertained riding 300 miles down the interstate. I love my Dyna, and plan on keeping it indefinately, but if i get to a point where i find that i need a windshield, i will go and buy an electra glide or a street glide, that have a fairing and windshield.

I vote yes for the windscreen, it keeps a lot of the road debris off and feels better in cold weather.

if I could get the quick connect that doesnt leave any hardware on the bike, for my '05 WG, I would have one. I would only use it for long hauls, and wouldn't want it most of the time... therfore I wouldn't want the hardware around either.
They came out with it for the '06 WG's, but the stinking tubes are a different diameter for the new year.

oh well.

Another vote for yes here.

Same as most have stated ... around home it's off, but headed out of town more than 30 miles I put the shield on.
