Inexpensive way to get my primary covers black?
In my continuing effort to get the bike blacker, I am struggling with the grey primary. At first, I thought I would just live with it, but does anyone have an idea on how to black it out without going broke...but not look like crap?

Maybe, but I'm not sure that I can take the engine apart! I said primary cover, but I meant the entire housing...I can't edit the thread title.

Or just regular engine spray paint. The silver powder coat is already textured. Degrease it and spray it.

I've had issues with the VHT stuff not curing like it should.

Did you just tape the hell out of it and spray it all while it was still on the bike, or take it apart?
If I have to disassemble it, I may as well powdercoat it.

I've had good luck with Krylon engine block paint. The key is prep, prep, and more prep.

Do it right & tear into the motor...remove grey parts & send in for powder. Painting on bike is OK (cheap), but pain to mask & then you're also sealing/coating all the bolts which causes problems when removing parts later.
