I saw these on this forum today. Here's a pic. Maybe this will help you decide. They don't really look that bad now that I see um. Not my personal choice of bars, but I've always been a TBar/Dragbar person.

Since you're asking and not meaning to step on toes I don't think the base should go past the width of the forks. Just mho.
