Discovered a good way to clean laced wheels
I just tried using a Classic Cloth to clean the spokes. Truly amazing! I have tried using polish on a rag, but it is messy. The Classic Cloth cleaned the black stuff off that washing wouldn't budge. The Classic Cloth also leaves behind a protective residue. Plus, it is fairly easy to wrap around the spokes.
I know that some recommend steel wool, but that doesn't appeal to me as it is abrasive.
Has anyone else tried these cloths?

That's the cloth I am talking about. I washed the wheels real well, using one of those cone shaped brushes. Then, I used some chrome polish. Better, but messy. Today, I ran across an old Classic Cloth. It was pretty old but still in the package. Wow! It really cleaned the stuff I couldn't get off with the polish. Another place is selling them: California Sport Touring. They last a really long time before they "wear" out.
