Well considering he said he mounted it to his battery box and the one on his forks is a good 3 or 4 inches above his fender, I think his paint will be fine.

I have the Roadking windshield bag mounted on the lower frame, it is pricey but good leather. I have used it for 5 years, still like brand new.

Looks nice & don't have to worry about scratching anything there!
Did you mount it on the cross piece between the frame tubes there? If I'm thinking correctly there are holes already in that brace?

The bag came with mounting hole, you have to make the hole bigger to fit the bolt. I mount it on one of the lower engine mount bolts, have to make a short bracket to bring it up a bit, more ground clearance.

I've been doing a lot of searching and comparing & what I really like the best is the round tool bag from Fox Creek Leather. I like the detail of the pics so I can see exactly how they mount. I could mount this bag on the forks or the front of the frame, or basically anywhere I could get creative with it. Think I'll buy one & if I like it really well I may buy a second one to put in the another location on the bike.

I have the 10x5x3 bag from Fox Creek. It holds a lot! Has a swivel closer and velcro under the flap. Nice bag.

Why not do a windshield bag then, if that's all you need it for?

Check out BAD&G Customs

I don't have a fork bag, but I like my battery cover bag. Very nice quality work.
